A regular practice of meditation affects different aspects of our everyday life. But how different (daily) routines and actions affect the practice of meditation?
Stimulants are for people!?
Generally, it seems that the consumption of stimulants which don’tt destroy the man doesn’t influence on the practice of meditation. What does in mean in practice?
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol doesn’t interfere as long as… we are sober! After a large consumption of alcohol (hangover) meditation is more difficult or even impossible for even 36-48hours. A large quantity of alcohol effectively poisons the body. Much energy and time should be given to bring the body and mind to the starting point (what means – I sit quietly and I breathe rhythmically).
Green socks
I think marijuana is less toxic than alcohol – practically no hangover – that shows something… For some reason marijuana is illegal – who have eyes to see and ears to hear – knows why. It is true that a man dressed in green socks (i.e. snuff
) is not able to meditate, it causes that we are sleepy, it’s difficult to concentrate – but sometimes you may experiment.
Exotic experiments – Peyote and other things
People in various cultures for hundreds of years used different seeds or plats to, for example, expand their consciousness. Many masters discouraged the experiments with such things – maybe rightly, maybe not. Everything depends on the mental strength of the man – the weaker he is the farther he should keep out from the cacti, mushrooms and other strange plants
. It’s true that with „help” of the strange plants you can relatively easy see the world from a different perspective, look deeper … For starters – you need an experienced guide – but it is not easy task to find him….
The rest of the stimulants
Everything natural and in moderation is ok (eg coffee), all chemical inventions (eg LSD) in combination with meditation and other practices often lead to mental illness, depression – it is probably not worth trying.
